Nurse Practitioners

Our Advanced Nurse Practitioners write prescriptions and make referrals when required. They are experienced nurse who have gone through a high level of training.  They have their own specialist area and greatly improve access to the surgery

Donald Lumb (m)

RGN(1990), BSC Hons Specialist Practitioner(2001) MSC Advanced Practitioner (2011)

Donald is also a trained and experienced prescriber, and is working independently.
In addition to holding surgery sessions and carrying out nursing home visits, Donald will be helping our practice nurses with some aspects of management of chronic illness cases and helping to ease pressure on our appointment system.

 

Nurses

Our fully trained practice nurses provide support services including cervical smears, immunisation, advice on nursing and dietary problems. The nurses also assist the doctors in minor surgery sessions and play a large part in the clinics we run.

Patients with the following conditions can be dealt with in the minor illness sessions:
Cough/sore throat/nose/sinus/ear symptoms
Skin infection/rash
Urinary symptoms/thrush/period pains
Constipation/diarrhoea
Foot/toe infections
Headaches
Back Pain
Hay fever/allergies

Healthcare Assistants

The HCAs have been trained to carry out a variety of clinical tests as well as simply taking blood. You may be asked to book an appointment with them if the doctor or nurse wants you have a test done.
