Adult Vaccinations and Immunisations
The adult vaccination programme for UK citizens can be found here. You can ask at reception for your vaccination history, and decide if you need to see the nurse for courses or boosters.
Antenatal Clinic
Wednesday 8.30am - 12 noon
Led by our team of midwives, with one GP available to provide medical cover.
Asthma Clinic
Sisters Colloff and Clarkson run this clinic on Tuesdays Wednesdays and Thursdays. All asthmatic patients are encouraged to attend for advice and up-to-date information on management and treatment. This clinic is also open to any patients using inhalers.
Child Immunisation Clinic
This is held on Tuesday mornings 8.35am - 12.15pm and is run by one of our doctors along with the practice nurses.
Children will be offered a general examination by the doctor at 8 weeks of age, then a schedule of appointments to receive their immunisations in accordance with the latest government recommendations. You can find these here.
The health visitors attached to our surgery also run their own child health clinics at various locations around the area at different times on various days of the week.

Cardiovascular Disease Monitoring
In order to improve the level of care to patients with heart and circulation problems, we offer a simple annual health check with our practice nurse to which you will receive an invitation.
Cervical Smear Tests/Womens Health
Appointments can be made at a time convenient to yourself and to fit in with your menstrual cycle if you require a cervical smear test. When booking your appointment, please tell the receptionist that you require a well woman appointment to ensure that enough time is allocated.
Cervical smears are offered to all women between 25 and 65 years at three yearly intervals or more often if necessary. A routine health check is carried out at each appointment. Please bring a sample of urine when you attend.
Tetanus injections (boosters every 10 years) and cholesterol tests are done if appropriate at the clinic.
Breast examination advice is given. Breast screening - by mammography - is offered to all women aged between 50 and 70 years on a three yearly rotation.
Coil/Implant Clinic
This services is offered by our doctors and requires you to book an appointment in the usual way.
Diabetic Clinic
Dr Alam and Dr Jain together with Sister's Taylor and Colloff run the clinic on Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday mornings. The clinic is open to ALL diabetic patients by appointment. Patients are invited for annual review where they will receive a full diabetes check and dietary advice as necessary. For patients who are seen at hospital diabetic clinics, this clinic is supplementary to their hospital care.
Dressing Clinic
The District Nurses have a clinic on our premises Monday Wednesday and Friday 8.45am - 12.30pm by appointment, to see patients who need dressings or who have been referred for treatment following discharge from hospital. The district nurse will also carry out ear syringing.
Please note that we only provide accommodation for this clinic. The District Nurses are not practice staff, and we do not take bookings for their clinics. You will need to contact their liaison office based at BARDOC on 0161 763 8525 to use their services. They also hold clinics at other sites around the borough and their booking office may make you an appointment at one of these. Therefore please carefully note the date time and venue for your appointment.
Family Planning
We cover all areas of family planning including contraceptive and confidential sexual health advice for young people. You can make an ordinary nurse appointment for this. All women should know that this service is entirely confidential. Patients who are using oral or injectable contraception will be required to attend for an annual health check to ensure that their continued use is not contraindicated.
Hormone Replacement Therapy
If you are taking hormone replacement therapy you will be required to attend an annual review with the nurse.
Hypertension (Blood Pressure) Monitoring
We offer continued support to patients with high blood pressure and an invitation to attend will be sent to you if appropriate.
Influenza Vaccine
It is recognised that patients under 2 years old, pregnant women, those of any age with certain medical conditions, and all those over the age of 65 years are more at risk from the effects of influenza. We therefore offer a free influenza vaccine to these patients each year, normally in October.

Minor Surgery Clinic
Some of the doctors carry out most minor surgical procedures following referral by other GPs or the nurse practitioners. This clinic is held on a Wednesday morning after surgeries. Please note that due to the coronavirus this service has been suspended until further notice.
NHS Health Checks for Well Men and Women
Rather than separate well man/woman clinics, we now have Government funding for 5 yearly routine health checks in general surgery times by appointment with a practice nurse. These are open to adult patients registered with us.
Please enquire with a receptionist and they can advise if you health check is due.
Phlebotomy (blood sampling) and other diagnostic tests
Our healthcare assistant is available every morning and afternoon. Some practice nurse appointments are also available for this purpose. For patients who have difficulty attending during working hours, alternative walk-in services for blood sampling only are available on weekdays as follows:

Royal Oldham Hospital Mon-Fri 8.30am-4pm
Phoenix Centre Heywood by appointment only 8am-11am Saturdays. Please call 0161 763 8292 to book.
Please note that we have a service for you to obtain test results by telephone if agreed with the doctors.
Postnatal Clinic
Wednesday 10.30am - 12 noon
As part of the antenatal clinic, led by the midwife. Please note that the GP no longer covers the post-natal part of the clinic, but you can book an appointment with a GP in routine surgery to discuss any postnatal problems.
Thyroid Disease Monitoring
Some patients require regular thyroid hormone monitoring on an annual basis. You will receive an invitation to attend if appropriate.
Travel Immunisation
We offer vaccinations and advice for travel anywhere in the world. Prepare yourself well in advance of your travel by checking your vaccination status with one of our practice nurses at least six weeks in advance of travel, as some vaccines are not active immediately and this may compromise your protection More info here
Weight Advice
You may come along to the surgery by appointment with the practice nurses for dietary advice.
